Better out comes in Mental Health Initiative

The Better Outcomes in Mental Health Care Program (Better Outcomes) is an initiative of the Commonwealth Government and was introduced in 2001.

Your Haynes GP can refer you to The InFocus Counseling Program if you are eligible for this facility which provides short-term, early intervention focused psychological sessions with an experienced mental health professional.

A maximum of 18 sessions per calendar year may be accessed.

Cost for the Infocus Program:

  • Free for genuine financial hardships.
  • $10 for concession card holders/Unemployed/Centerlink
  • $30 - Full time employed.

Talk to your GP to find out eligibility criteria.This aims to improve the management and support of people with mental health issues in the primary health care setting.The service provides effective, low-cost treatment for people with a mental illness who may not otherwise be able to access psychological help.

If you are not eligible for better outcome programs under in focus Your GP can refer you to another psychologist under this initiative. Under this Better Access Initiative Medicare rebates are available for 10 individual allied mental health services per calendar year.
